Swimming Class in the Duck Pond – Australian Wood Duck
I set out early in the morning to hunt for wrens and finches. But one the way 3 Sulphur-crested cockatoos were drinking at the pond. I stopped and got a few shots before they flew off.

28 New Ducklings Learning to Swim
I was about to head off, but then spotted a male Wood Duck on the bank with a mess of fluffy balls following him. Wow!! So many! I’ve never seen so many tiny ducklings. He took them down in them down in the pond and they were joined by a female duck and another male. I got lots of shots. I counted 28 ducklings in one photo. It looks like a swimming school to me.
Parents Watch On
After lots of shots, I continued on my walk, and on the way back I stopped for some more shots. This time they were on the bank. And notice other ducks watching on in the later shots. Looks like a swimming school to me with the parents on the edge watching the class. 🙂
