B062 Grey Teal

Find it in any available water.

Description:

The Grey Teal is noted for for flying long distances, more than any other Australian waterfowl. They fly vast distances in search for suitable water, and they can be found in every type of wetland.

It is almost all grey-brown. Each feather of the body is edged with buff, except on the rump. The chin and throat are white, the bill is dark green and the eye is red. The secondary wing feathers have glossy blue-black patch, broadly bordered and tipped with white.

My Sightings:

My first sighting was in December 2020 at Wonga Wetlands, Albury, NSW. And I’ve seen them again on a farm dam in Kalbar, Qld, July 2021.
