Don’t Worry, Watch Birds!

WELCOME! I’m glad you found me here!

In this crazy world, it is comforting to know there are some things that don’t change. Just spend time with God’s creation and see! The birds are still singing, and doing what birds do. In fact, Jesus told us not to be anxious, but look at the birds.

“Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?… Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow…” (Matthew 6:26-27,34)

So I find watching birds is a delightful distraction from whatever else is going on in the world. And this made me think that I should make this bird blog. I have a goal to take photos of as many bird species as I can.

I sure hope you enjoy it like I do.

More of what the Bible says about birds:

“Don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. Rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.  Aren’t two sparrows sold for an assarion coin? Not one of them falls on the ground apart from your Father’s will, but the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows. ” (Matthew 10:28-31)

“But no one says, ‘Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night, who teaches us more than the animals of the earth, and makes us wiser than the birds of the sky?’”  (Job 35:10-11)

“Who provides for the raven his prey, when his young ones cry to God, and wander for lack of food?” (Job 38:41)

“He sends springs into the valleys. They run among the mountains.  They give drink to every animal of the field. The wild donkeys quench their thirst.  The birds of the sky nest by them. They sing among the branches. ” (Psalm 104:10-12)

“These all wait for you, that you may give them their food in due season.  You give to them; they gather. You open your hand; they are satisfied with good.” (Psalm 104:27-28)

“How lovely are your dwellings, Yahweh of Armies!  My soul longs, and even faints for the courts of Yahweh. My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.  Yes, the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young, near your altars, Yahweh of Armies, my King, and my God.  Blessed are those who dwell in your house. They are always praising you. Selah.” (Psalm 84:1-4)

Jesus said to him, “The foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” (Matthew 8:20)
