Building a Nest – Double-barred Finches
This morning I went down to my usual spot on my hunt for wrens and finches again.
I spotted a little Owl Face (Double-bar Finch) on a branch of a pine tree. The Owl-faced Finch is not what I was looking for as we have plenty of them in the birdbath at home. I had earlier spotted a male Red-backed Fairywren, but he didn’t hang around long enough for me to get a good shot.
So I was content to watched this little finch for a moment. As I did I noticed he was coming and going. Then I noticed more activity in that one spot of the tree.
I zoomed in and found what I suspected – they were building a nest.
Sorry about all the twigs and pine needles… but take a closer look and see them.
